Safety at Port Island Guides

At Port Island Guides, safety is our top priority. We operate only during good weather and favorable wave conditions to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all participants. Our guided tours to uninhabited islands are carefully planned to minimize risks, focusing on stable and accessible areas. Before each tour, our experienced guides conduct thorough safety briefings, highlighting potential hazards and providing essential safety equipment when necessary.

We emphasize the importance of staying within designated areas and following guide instructions to avoid accidents. By operating in optimal conditions and maintaining a vigilant approach to safety, we provide a safe and memorable experience for all who explore these unique island landscapes with us.

Regular Training

At Port Island, we prioritize a strong safety culture through comprehensive staff training. New employees undergo a rigorous training program that spans several weeks, focusing on safety protocols, environmental awareness, and customer service. This is followed by an apprenticeship under our experienced senior guides. Ongoing training, reviews, and assessments ensure that all staff remain up-to-date with the latest safety practices and procedures, regardless of their tenure.

We emphasize the importance of safety in all activities, whether it's kayaking, snorkelling, or guided walks. Our team is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors, ensuring that everyone can appreciate the unique geological features and natural beauty of Port Island.

What is the Risk?

Our activities at Port Island, including the Port Island encounter and island hopping tours, involve exploring on land and require walking along the uneven terrain of the coastline after boarding the boat (approximately 30 meters) to reach unofficial trails. These on-land activities carry inherent risks, such as slips, trips, and falls, due to the rugged terrain. In contrast, our kayaking and snorkelling tours, which do not require walking off the coast, involve different risks, such as injuries from marine life or equipment misuse. For all activities, we emphasize safety and provide necessary guidance to ensure participants are aware of potential hazards. Before participating, please consider any medical conditions that might affect your ability to safely engage in these activities. Your decision to participate is personal and should be made with an understanding of the potential risks involved.
